Every year, our therapists run two evidence-based parent training workshops:

1: More than Words 
The Hanen More Than Words program is designed for parents of children, ages 0-7, on the autism spectrum or with social communication challenges. Focusing on everyday activities like mealtime, storytime, and bath time, this program helps parents support their child’s social communication, back-and-forth interactions, play, and imitation skills.
Over 8 weeks, our experienced speech pathologists will guide parents and carers through personalised, research-based strategies to support their child’s social communication, play, and imitation skills. The program includes eight online group sessions, each 2-3 hours long, along with three individual video feedback sessions to observe and adjust techniques specifically for your child’s needs. The online format makes it accessible for working parents, allowing you to develop these essential skills from the comfort of your home.

2: Talkability 
The TalkAbility™ program is for parents of children, ages 4-8, on the autism spectrum, who speak in sentences and engage in conversations. This program helps children build social skills by using natural, everyday interactions with family and friends.
If your child has difficulty understanding others’ perspectives, misses non-verbal cues, struggles with conversation flow, or fixates on certain topics, this program can help you:

• Understand your child’s perspective and teach them to understand others
• Support them in having longer, meaningful conversations
• Encourage them to pick up on non-verbal cues in social settings
• Build friendship skills in a natural, engaging way

Using research-based strategies, this program turns daily activities into learning moments, helping your child expand social communication in ways that feel relevant and meaningful to them.
